Sarah Walters, MA, LPC-Supervisor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and have been a practicing in the Austin area for almost 15 years. I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, and my Master’s in Counseling at St. Edward’s University. I am a lifelong learner, which helps fuel my love for the counseling profession.
I am married, have three beautiful daughters, and enjoy being outdoors, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
Therapeutic Style
I believe that the most effective therapeutic relationship comes from a place of equality. I do not see myself as an expert on your life, but a safe and supportive resource to help you work towards your personal goals for therapy. I prefer to come alongside you in your journey with my own expertise to help cultivate wholeness and health mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Though I am personally influenced by a Christian worldview, I respect that everyone comes from different spiritual backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. I am a big believer in the idea of “practicing what you preach” and therefore, have intentionally committed to my own personal work and development towards health and wellbeing.
Training
Over the past decade, I have taken time to hone my professional study and skills in several different areas, including:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Process)
Bowen Family Systems Therapy
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
Solution-Focused Therapy

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, and I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology at Southwestern University and my Master's in Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary.
I love being a mama to my son who is spunky and sweet, and married to my passionate and caring husband. I enjoy being fully present in conversations, hosting people in our home, playing outside, and finding beauty in the mundane moments of life.
Therapeutic Style:
I believe compassion and curiosity play a vital role in our growth. My approach to therapy is empathetic, relational, and acknowledges that you are the expert on your own life. I consider my role to be a facilitator, encourager, and a source of unconditional acceptance for you as you courageously enter into therapy, which can be intimidating! My hope is to provide you with a therapeutic relationship where you can experience compassion, connection, and care that leads to you feeling safe to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behavior patterns. Through deepening an understanding of yourself, my hope is that you could experience healing, hope, and healthier relationships.
I take an integrated approach to therapy, meaning I will thoughtfully engage multiple different modalities and theoretical orientations in our time together. This helps me provide you with a wide range of tools that you can adapt within your own life. I am personally influenced by a Christian worldview, however, I fully respect that everyone comes from different spiritual backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures. I am personally committed to seeking health and wellness mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, so that I may have integrity as I support you in your journey of wellness.
I see individuals, couples, and families. Some of my areas of interest include life transitions, relational stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief. Additionally, as a mother myself, I have a deep love for helping parents grow in health as they care for their families.
